Adele

AdeleAdkins was the daughter of a young single mother and was raised in various working-class London neighbourhoods. When she was a kid she was a fan of contemporary pop songs and also learning to play guitar and the clarinet. However, it wasn't until her early teens, when she discovered the rhythm and blues singer Etta James, as well as other mid-20th century performers, that she started to think about pursuing a career in music. She was in an academy for visual and performing arts, which was funded by the federal government. A friend of mine posted songs Adkins had written on Myspace. Her music soon caught the attention of recording companies, and in 2006, several months after graduating she signed a deal with XL Recordings.
