tony gonzalez-5-1024x1024Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976 in Torrance, California. He grew up in southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School, where he was a top athlete on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez continued to excel in both sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He played with the football team in the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez set the school record for bowl games with nine receptions. After a few months, Gonzalez led the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. Then he quit school to enter the 1997 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their number thirteen overall. Gonzalez was a player with the Chiefs from 1997 until the year 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. After his second year in the NFL the team never managed to catch less than 59 passes during the course of a season.
